Wife attacked for not giving birth to a boy

The incident took place in Sonahalli village of HD Kote taluk of Mysore district where the wife was assaulted for not giving birth to a male child.

Husband Chandru assaulted his wife Shivamma. Father-in-law Ramegowda and mother-in-law Kempamma have also been accused of helping in the attack.

The victim has been identified as Shivamma and the couple has two daughters. Chandru, who was not relieved by this, tortured Shivamma for not giving birth to a boy.

The elders of the family try to convince Chandru and his parents to stop torturing Shivamma without insisting that she wants a boy. Unconcerned about this, Chandra attacked his wife. Unable to bear the torture, Shivamma Pati v. H.D. Filed a complaint at Kote Police Station.

At present the police have arrested the husband Chandru and the police have started searching for the father-in-law Ramegowda's mother-in-law Kempamma who is absconding.
